Established in 2009 by Mia & Sebastiaan Vadasz, Townhouse is a Zurich based brand offering clothing, home and fashion accessories with a focus on local design, timeless essentials and quality production. Our collection is compact with only a handful of carefully selected items, eliminating all fanciful details and supporting small manufacturers. We believe in beauty and in quality, in products that are simple yet luxurious.
We are very humbled to find Townhouse in this beautiful illustration by Nishant Choksi for Monocle. Our favorite magazine envisioned how the perfect street filled with their favorite city haunts from around the world would look like and we are absolutely delighted to be part of it. We love the accuracy of the illustration – not only the face of the building, but all details such as our stop trottoir and lamps are shown – and of course the choice of our neighbors. This is the place we would want to work and live.
In May Mia and Sebastiaan Vadasz launch the brand Townhouse and open their first store in Zurich. In the August issue of Vogue Germany, Townhouse is featured as one of the best new shops worldwide and in October Townhouse is featured in Monocle as “a collection of the best, brightest and most interesting international objects carefully assembled by the couple in a simple and smartly appointed space”. In the same edition, the Townhouse
socks are featured as one of the top 25 style picks. Tyler Brûlé also writes about Townhouse in the Financial Times after visiting the shop in Zurich. Press coverage continues as New York based Swissmiss also comes by and numerous Swiss magazines and newspapers write about Townhouse. In Schweizer Illustrierte Townhouse is featured as “Zurich’s new hotspot for fashionistas”.
Townhouse expands the private label collection and introduces the Townhouse Art Edition, a special cooperation with renowned Swiss artists and newcomers. Townhouse also collaborates with Sony Ericsson to introduce Xperia Pureness, a phone sold exclusively in selected concept stores worldwide such as Colette, Corso Como, The Corner and Towhouse. In the same year Townhouse and Monocle get together
to produce a limited edition Monocle x Townhouse boxer short, sold in Monocle shops worldwide and through their e-shop. Townhouse continuously gets national press coverage in all notable magazines and newspapers such as Bilanz, NZZ, Sonntagszeitung, 20 Minuten, Annabelle, Weltwoche, Wohnrevue, SI Style as well as international blogs such as Les Mads, Oh Joy and Lonny magazine.
Townhouse expands by launching the jewelry brand Miaki and collaborates with Zurich’s tailor Christian Hunziker by opening a small shop-in-shop in his atelier. Intrigued by this cooperation, Townhouse teams up with Hunziker
later in the year again and together open Pelikamo, a new shop dedicated to highly selected menswear in Zurich. In the same year, the Guardian features Townhouse as one of the best shops worldwide.
Townhouse expands by opening its second shop in Zurich in the newly built Gerolds Markt, a new shopping haven in Zurich West. In the same year, Zurich tops the list of Monocle’s annual Quality of Life ranking and Townhouse is not only included in their movie but also makes it into their idea of the
perfect street filled with favorite shops and restaurants from around the world. Miaki also continues to expand with new retailers in various Swiss cities and Pelikamo adds the first Monocle shop-in-shop in Switzerland at Pelikanstrasse 11.
Vadasz & Vadasz are very humbled to be listed in the "Who is Who in Zurich 2013" and continue to expand their business. Townhouse now completely focuses on the private label collection and relaunches the e-shop while
national and international press coverage continues. Miaki expands to Germany and is now sold at multiple shops in Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg while Pelikamo launches an international e-shop.
Another exciting year it has been. The Townhouse webpage including e-shop is relaunched, the private label range expands and Townhouse is featured in numerous national and international press such as Gala Style, Grazia Germany, Elle UK, NZZ Stil, Annabelle and SI Style. Vadasz & Vadasz acquire a part of Edition Populaire, a Zurich
based shop that offers a highly curated selection of products from around the world that fulfill the highest standards in terms of quality, design and functionality. Pelikamo also expands by opening a new shop dedicated to tailoring services at Nüschelerstrasse 31 and takes part in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Show in Zurich.
What a year! Vadasz & Vadasz open a new Pelikamo store in Basel, the first shop outside of their home base Zurich. Miaki gets a complete new look, the homepage is re-launched, new packaging is introduced, the collection is expanded and now offers the full range with necklaces,
bracelets, ear studs et al. With Edition Populaire, Vadasz & Vadasz open a food-related pop-up store called Edition Culinaire. And Townhouse is featured on Condé Nast Traveler as one of the best shops worldwide for last minute gifts.
